Hugo Chavez isn't in New York this week for the opening of the United Nations General Assembly. He's staying home. He's also spending time with actor Kevin Spacey, who has come to Venezuela to check out the movie industry. Spacey and Danny Glover and Harry Belafonte are thinking of making movies there. Why, god only knows. Has Hollywood suddenly gotten not leftist enough? Once again, go figure. Kevin Spacey Meets With Hugo Chavez in Venezuela
AMERICAN actor Kevin Spacey has had a private meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez and praised his government's efforts to support film-making. Spacey met Chavez over dinner, and state television later carried footage of the actor saying the country's film studio offers Venezuelans a valuable opportunity to "make films about their own country and their own culture." "I think every country should have this," said Spacey, who earlier visited the $US13 million ($A14.99 million) film studio founded last year by Chavez's government. September 26, 2007 12:00am
