Barack Obama held two star-studded events in his honor in Beverly Hills on Tuesday. The first was a $28,500-per-plate dinner at the landmark Greystone Mansion attended by some bold-faced names, including Tobey McGuire, Leonardo DiCapro Jodie Foster and Chris Rock. The second, a $2,500-per-ticket fund-raiser at the glamorous Regent Beverly Wilshire included performances by Ben Harper and Barbara Streisand. Among the crowd was Sarah Silverman and Ron Howard, who enjoyed the desserts and an open bar in between cracking jokes about the GOP's Sarah Palin and John McCain. Laura Dern watched her husband (Ben Harper) perform, but stood atop her chair when Obama made his entrance. Together, the events raised an estimated $9 million for the Democratic presidential nominee. Barack Obama Holds Star Studded Hollywood Parties

Democratic Party, Republican Party, Libertarian Party, Green Party — certainly each is fine in its own way. But nothing beats a Hollywood party. And there will be plenty of those tonight as showbiz types gather in Los Angeles, New York and, of course, Chicago to watch final election returns and celebrate various candidates coming into power. The biggest event in L.A., slated to start as polls close in California, is a bash at the Century Plaza Hotel co-hosted by Obama’s California campaign staff and the California Democratic Party. With over 10,000 RSVPs accepted by midday Tuesday, the party touted several boldfaced names on the invitation, including Sarah Silverman, Pierce Brosnan, Amy Smart, Peter Fonda, Zooey Deschanel, Alan Ladd Jr., and Richard and Lauren Shuler Donner.
