Michael Newdow vs. America Posted: January 11, 2005

Enter his twin in attacking America's symbols, one Michael Newdow, the atheist lawyer from San Francisco. While Osama and al-Qaida attack our physical symbols, Michael Newdow is busy attacking with all his ferocious bile the precious symbols of our religious freedoms and our freedom of expression Although these freedoms are guaranteed in the First Amendment, Newdow cleverly quotes only the first part, "Congress shall make no laws respecting the establishment of religion," and attacks the two words "under God" in our Pledge of Allegiance"; in God we trust" in our currency; our national motto, "One Nation Under God" – and most recently walked the streets of Washington, importuning at least two Supreme Court justices, trying to suborn them into preventing the prayer of a minister in the inauguration or any mention by the President of God in the inaugural proceedings! Then there is Michael Newdow. You remember Newdow. He is the fellow who tried to get “under God” stricken from the Pledge of Allegiance. Well, he’s back. This time he has taken to the federal courts to try to prevent two ministers from praying at the inaugural. Newdow has made his complaint before federal judge John Bates on, of all things, the First Amendment. The First Amendment says “Congress shall make no law respecting the establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” God Bless America,

The court is hearing arguments today from California atheist Michael Newdow, who initially claimed "protection” of his 9-year-old daughter as his motive for opposing recitation of the pledge in government schools. After the girl and her mother revealed they supported the pledge, he admitted exploiting the child as an excuse to sue away. Newdow has admitted he also wants to censor the national motto, "In God We Trust,” from U.S. currency. "It’s a cool thing to do. Everyone should try it,” he said in June 2002. America is experiencing a hostile takeover, an advancing conquest by abject secularists who believe – and demand – that our nation should be a religion-free zone that stifles all public religious expression. That movement experienced a surge last week when a San Francisco federal district court declared that the phrase "under God" in our nation's Pledge of Allegiance is unconstitutional. The plaintiff in the case – the now notorious Michael Newdow – is a self-serving atheist who attempted to oust the phrase from the Pledge two years ago. The problem then was that he alleged that he was representing his daughter's desire to cast "under God" out of the Pledge. We found that the opposite was true; the little girl – who was living with her mother, a Christian – actually enjoyed reciting the Pledge in her school. 'Under God' Under Fire Jerry Falwell
