Hollywood Invades the Heartland

What if you heard a knock at the door and when you answered Kevin Bacon was standing on your welcome mat urging you to vote for John Kerry? Would you be more inclined to cast your ballot for a flip-flop future with a hamster rescuer?

Well, that’s what a 527 group called Bring Ohio Back was banking on. It figured that if Bacon, Martin Sheen, Marisa Tomei, Steve Buscemi, Gina Gershon or Hilary Swank showed up on your front porch, you’d rush out and register as a Dem.

While the rest of the country was paying tribute to our beloved former president, Hollywood stars were turning up at the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences in Beverly Hills to watch Michael Moore’s latest flight of fancy.

A Who’s Who of Hollywood libs flocked to a special screening of Moore’s upcoming celluloid rant called “Fahrenheit 9/11.”

Viewers included Martin Sheen, Leonardo DiCaprio, Jodie Foster, Ellen DeGeneres, David Duchovny, Sharon Stone, Meg Ryan, Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, Mark Wahlberg, Drew Barrymore, Chris Rock, Danny DeVito, Rhea Pearlman, Jack Black, Matthew Perry, Josh Brolin, Diane Lane, Marisa Tomei, Billy Crystal, Larry David, Rob Reiner, Aaron Sorkin, Larry Gelbart, Brett Ratner, Tom Hayden, Arianna Huffington, Spike Jonze, Kelly Lynch, Bill Maher, Camryn Manheim, Viggo Mortensen and Leelee Sobieski.

John Kerry danced Wednesday night. For only a moment and somewhat awkwardly, but he couldn't help himself.

Kerry had already exceeded that by a cool half-million before he came to Crobar, a club in Manhattan's trendy Chelsea district. Fresh from a gala at the midtown Sheraton, where serious New Yorkers in serious garb handed over $6 million in serious cash, Kerry's $500,000 club fundraiser was icing on the cake.

Hollywood actors Steve Buscemi and Marisa Tomei, both Brooklyn natives, were cavorting in the elite section for elite Democrats.
