Mario Cuomo
Mario M. Cuomo is the longest serving Democratic governor of New York in modern history, having served three terms during the Reagan/Bush years. He set two records for highest popular vote ever achieved in two separate elections. The New York Times called his tenure one of the most celebrated governorships in history. Cuomo gained national prominence when, on July 17, 1984, he delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention, entitled “A Tale of Two Cities”… a rebuttal to then-President Reagan’s “Shining City on the Hill” speech. He is the author of 13 books. His most recent, "Why Lincoln Matters Today More Than Ever," was published in 2004. http://www.politico.com/arena/bio/mario_m_cuomo.html
