"The Obama camp has my number," says Lee, who proudly adds that he had been flying an Obama-Biden flag outside his brownstone in the Upper East Side. But he recently had to take it down. "People were ringing the bell, thinking it was Obama headquarters," Lee says, with a laugh that turns into a cackle of glee. The Buffalo Soldiers tale 'Miracle at St. Anna' arrives
as the U.S. considers electing its first black president.
While addressing a crowd at the University of Dayton on Monday, director SPIKE LEE proclaimed that "we are living in some very exciting times" and announced he supports presidential hopeful BARACK OBAMA, the Associated Press reports. "The months leading up to the election in November will determine which way this country is going to go; forward or backward. It's up to you to do the right thing," he said. Spike Lee Endorses Barack Obama
"So we liberate people so we can torture them," Lee said, his voice dripping with sarcasm, according to the columnist. "I like that." "I'm surprised [the Bush administration] hasn't killed him yet, Lee said of Moore. " ... Hopefully, this film will get out to the world before the next election." "We live in very serious times now," Lee told the audience. "We're living with the ramifications of the last presidential election. We all got hornswoggled. Run amok. Led astray. Bamboozled." On same-sex marriages: "People should be allowed to marry who they want." On weapons of mass destruction and threats to America: "They will find Jimmy Hoffa first. ... If we were really smart, we'd be thinking about this guy in North Korea," referring to dictator Kim Jong Il. "Because they have a nuclear bomb, and this guy is a nut." Spike Lee: Rumsfeld a 'gangster'
"They are trying to sell the world something that isn’t true. When Donald
Rumsfeld makes statements like, ‘If you don’t support our war you are
supporting terrorism,’ I feel disgusted. They have shown no evidence of
a link. This has nothing to do with disarmament. It’s about oil. We all
know Iraq is a country with a great reserve of natural resources. I find
it difficult to buy what Bush is telling us about this being a moral war."
