LOS ANGELES (Aug. 12) -- President Bill Clinton mingled with music and
movie luminaries Tuesday night as he helped California Democratic gubernatorial
nominee Gray Davis raise about $3 million for his fall campaign.
Among those on hand at one $1 million event at the home of Jeffrey Katzenberg
were Steve Martin, Diane Keaton, Jeff Goldblum, Sharon Stone, Rob
Reiner and Clint Black. Clinton attended another $1 million event at the
Los Angeles home of developer Bruce Karatz, and earlier in the day raised
$1 million for Davis at a San Francisco luncheon.

Democrat Al Gore made one last push in Pittsburgh yesterday, sending
the family lawyer and a Hollywood pal to try to win over voters.
Schiff, 27, was joined at the rally by actor Jeff Goldblum, who
said the idea of Republican George W. Bush winning the White House made
him cringe.
"Please, dear God, let Al Gore get to be president," Goldblum said to
laughs from the crowd.
"I was inspired and deeply stirred by Al Gore," Goldblum said. "He's
a fine fellow and very qualified."

Actor activism for Gore. Barbra Streisand is not the only left-wing celebrity
using her stardom to aide the Al Gore campaign and the Rosie O’Donnell
Show wasn’t the only program Monday to showcase a celebrity promoting
Gore. Last night on NBC’s Tonight Show, X Files star Gillian Anderson
shouted "Gore! Gore!"
In a World News Tonight story on turnout efforts, ABC’s Aaron Brown on
Monday night reported: "Actor Jeff Goldblum was working for Al
Gore in Pittsburgh, TV President Martin Sheen and Rob Reiner were working
Memphis."
Entertainment Tonight’s Mary Hart showed actors Julia Louis Dreyfuss,
Ben Affleck, Helen Hunt and Martin Sheen campaigning for Gore in Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania over the weekend. ET played a clip of Dreyfuss, best-known
as "Elaine" on Seinfeld, shouting: "Vote for Al Gore Tuesday!" Affleck
took a nice shot at Bush: "It’s hard for me to have a respect for a guy
who never held a job until he was 40." Shortly before 1am ET this morning,
C-SPAN showed live coverage of Affleck, Robert DeNiro and Glenn Close
bashing Bush as they warmed up a Miami Beach crowd just before Gore arrived.
