(CNSNews.com) – Academy Award-winning actor and activist Jeff Bridges offered his assessment of President Obama’s performance in what he called “the toughest job in the world,” saying he has “a lot of faith” in Obama who is doing “as best he can.”
“Yeah, I do, that must be the toughest job in the world and I think he’s doing as best he can and I have a lot of faith in him and it’s wonderful that he set that goal for us – to end childhood hunger by 2015,” he told CNSNews.com after appearing with Virginia governor Bob McDonnell and U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to launch Virginia’s “No Kid Hungry” campaign on Tuesday at Barcroft Elementary School in Arlington, Virginia.
Given that a record number people in America – 14 percent – currently rely on the federal government’s food stamp program, Bridges was asked whether or not he thinks the Obama administration has pursued the proper policies.
“It’s a political scene. I think he did such a great job just initiating this idea of ending childhood hunger by 2015 and I’m going with that. I can’t put myself in his position. I don’t know of all the things he’s dealing with,” Bridges responded.
“I’m in total support of his original vision and doing everything I can to carry that on and also doing everything I can to protect these programs that are being threatened now like the food stamp program.”
