(CNSNews.com) – Actor David Arquette, an early supporter of Barack Obama, told CNSNews.com that he is not an advocate for war but still stands behind President Obama.

When speaking in an interview with CNSNews.com during an inaugural party for Barack Obama in January 2009, Arquette said of the new President: “I think he’ll do what it takes to make Afghanistan a priority and get that sort of in shape and then hopefully diplomatic solutions to other countries that are rogue.”

CNSNews.com asked Arquette for his thoughts on President Obama escalating the war in Afghanistan and intervening militarily in Libya.

“I’m not an advocate for war at any time. I mean, I know that seems kind of out there but Gandhi is one of my favorite members of history and heroes of mine so I think it’s possible,” he told CNSNews.com at a Creative Coalition event on Thursday.

“I think we need to cultivate things that are more positive for the human spirit. I think there’s a conscience change going on in the world and hopefully it will really start taking hold but I also understand that there’s a lot of information out there that the President knows that people in seats of power understand a lot better than I do so that’s just my personal opinion but, you know, I still stand behind my President.”
