During a recent discussion about Anti-War protestors one of the show’s hosts, Meredith Vieira, stated that President Bush "will not be deterred from war against Iraq if he thinks that’s what we need to do. He says that he's not going to decide policy based upon a focus group. He believes that the role of a leader - and he has a point here - is to decide policy based upon the security of the people." At which point Jamie Lee Curtis took issue. "So then what is he talking about that it’s a focus group?" Curtis shouted. "That was millions of people! That is not a focus group. Fifteen people, you know, talking about a movie plot is a focus group. That was millions of the people that he’s supposed to serve." Star Jones then jumped into the discussion with a reminder from the 2000 presidential election. Saying "Well, I guess, you know the President says the majority of the people didn't elect him, he doesn't have to listen to 'em anyway." Curtis seconded the motion. "They didn't elect him at all." Former Vermont governor and country doc Howard Dean has officially kicked off his bid for the presidency. The big surprise to a lot of people, though, is how quickly Dean is becoming a major player in a bloated field of Democrat candidates. The first and most significant celeb to back Dean was Rob Reiner. Yes, the Meathead chose the jug of maple syrup almost two years before the Democrat Party officially makes its pick. Reiner indicated that he didn't want to wait, because he wanted to make sure that Dean had the finances to survive a primary season. Meanwhile, Rob Reiner hosted a donor party, where approximately 100 of the glitterati showed up and shelled out an additional $125,000 for Dean's campaign. Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest were reportedly in attendance. Howard Dean, Take 1 James Hirsen, NewsMax.com

Jamie Lee Curtis wrote in The Huffington Post, "The scariest thing I hear about the Palin nomination was that she would appeal to voters because they would be able to relate to her and she to them." Curtis admitted, "I couldn't hold my own for one minute in a debate on any issue with someone like a Barack Obama or Joseph Biden and neither can Sarah Palin." "When the call comes at 3 a.m. I want a mind who was at the top of their class, who has gravitas and a real intellect. I want a leader who is a scholar who can hold the history of civilization in his head and will read and learn from the past as he charts the future," she added.
