DAYTON, Ohio (AP) -- Actor Cuba Gooding Jr. encouraged a rally at a
community college in Dayton to get out and vote in next month's presidential
election.
The supporter of Democratic candidate Barack Obama told about 500 Sinclair Community College students gathered on Monday that, "whether you are a Republican or a Democrat, this is an important time in America."
After the Gooding's speech, an Obama campaign organizer encouraged the crowd to walk to the Montgomery County Administration Building to vote early, and Gooding led the walk.
About 50 people lined up to vote.
Gooding also was scheduled to make appearances at three other Ohio cities -- Hamilton, Lima and Toledo -- in the tour organized by the Obama campaign.

"I can't sit back one more time and be frustrated that the nominee I was going for didn't make the White House without doing my part. And that's the main reason I'm here today in Ohio," Gooding said.

HAMILTON — Academy Award-winner Cuba Gooding Jr. is scheduled to be in Hamilton today, Oct. 6, for a voter registration push as the deadline nears.
Hamilton will be among four stops Gooding will make as he headlines "Register for Change" events today across Western Ohio to urge state residents to register to vote before today's deadline, according to the Obama for America campaign.
At each stop, Gooding will rally supporters and volunteers to register to vote and cast an early ballot for Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., according to the campaign.
He is scheduled to be in Hamilton at 9 a.m. at Bailey Square
at Second and Chestnut streets. He is later scheduled to appear in Dayton,
Lima and Toledo, according to the campaign.
