Sen. Barack Obama's got a friend in singer Carole King.
The Grammy winner stumped for Obama in Barberton Thursday
afternoon — part of a three-day bus trip across Ohio.
King urged a standing-room-only crowd of about 100 at Lake
Anna Hall to educate themselves on the candidates. She asked Democrats
to campaign for Obama and Republicans to consider voting for him.
''If you feel your party is failing you, the best thing
you can do is vote for a Democrat,'' she said.
King compared Sen. John McCain to an older family doctor
and said Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain's GOP running mate, is ''the
intern.'' She said Obama is like a younger, more savvy doctor who understands
technology and who has more knowledge.

In Madison, Wis., thousands turned out Thursday to see Kerry – and Bruce
Springsteen, who sang "Promised Land" and "No Surrender," the latter adopted
as the Democrat's campaign anthem. Sheryl Crow and Bon Jovi, too, have
been the Massachusetts senator's opening acts this week.
On Wednesday, singer-songwriter Carole King and TV
actresses Melissa Fitzgerald of NBC's "The West Wing" and Allison Munn
from the WB's "What I Like About You" showed up in Rochester, Minn. Later,
Rob Livingston, of the movie "Office Space," returned to his hometown
of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to lead supporters in a phone bank.
