ACTRESS Maria Bello had a few days off from filming on location in Connecticut.
She decided she wanted to help Sen. Barack Obama more than she needed
to rest.
So on Friday, she joined her onetime school mate John Prendergast, an
African affairs expert in President Clinton's State Department and now
a foreign policy advisor to the stars, in their hometown of Norristown,
Pa.
They immediately went to work on the campaign, and by Sunday, they had
canvassed the town: They stumped for the Illinois senator at a coffee
shop, the train depot, on street corners and in schools.
Ted Danson worked the crowds for Clinton in the Keystone State over the
weekend. So did "Ugly Betty's" America Ferrera. It's the sort of
impromptu campaigning that both Democratic candidates have relied on across
the country. When you throw a celebrity into the mix, it's like grass
roots on steroids.

Clintons, who have long enjoyed strong support from powerful Hollywood
figures. Clinton isn't without her share of Hollywood fans who are working
to augment her built-in name recognition ahead of Super Tuesday. Ted Danson,
Mary Steenburgen, Ron Howard, America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Fran
Drescher, John Grisham and Magic Johnson have all campaigned on her behalf,
helping out with phone banks and making the occasional personal appearance.

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ? Actresses America Ferrera and
Amber Tamblyn announced their support of Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton
for president and will serve as national co-chairs of "HillBlazers," the
campaign's youth outreach program.
Ferrera and Tamblyn are expected to campaign for Clinton
in Las Vegas this week, in connection with Saturday's Nevada caucuses,
an aide said.
"This election is too important to stand on the sidelines,
especially for my generation," said Ferrera, best known for her Emmy-winning
starring role on the ABC comedy "Ugly Betty". "I look forward to rallying
young people to use their voices and get involved.
"I believe that Hillary Clinton can turn this country around.
I am confident she will be a champion for young women and men across the
country."
Tamblyn received an Emmy nomination for her role in the
2003-2005 CBS drama "Joan of Arcadia." She praised Clinton as "the only
candidate who has the experience to bring about change."
"I'm excited to campaign for her wherever and whenever I
can," Tamblyn said.
