Carey was one of the founders of the Baptist Missionary Society. As a missionary he spent more than 40 years in India. In his first 7 years he had no converts. When he died at 73 he had founded a college at Serampore, India, translated the Bible into Bengali, Sanskrit, as well as numerous other languages and dialects.and. had seen India open its doors to missionaries and converts for Christ.
