There were no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. Saddam's own defense team argued that Saddam and his codefendants were fighting Kurdish insurgents during the 1987-88 military offensive that was codenamed Operation Anfal. The Anfal campaign in northern Iraq, killed at least 100,000 Iraqi Kurds. The Anfal campaign included the 1988 attack with poisonous gas and chemical agents that killed 5,000 people in the village of Halabja. This proves at one time that Saddam Hussein used weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. To say there were no weapons of mass destruction is like saying that after watching a video of a man growing marijuana plants on his property that by the time the police get there and they are gone (because he disposes of them) - that there were never any marijuana plants.
