Our Mission
EMILY's List members are dedicated to building a progressive America by
electing pro-choice Democratic women to office. We believe in the power
of women as candidates, as contributors, as campaign professionals, and
as voters to bring about great change in our country.
EMILY's List is committed to a three-pronged strategy to elect pro-choice Democratic women: recruiting and funding viable women candidates; helping them build and run effective campaign organizations; and mobilizing women voters to help elect progressive candidates across the nation.

Who We Are
EMILY's List has helped to change the face of power in America. Until EMILY's List was founded in 1985, no Democratic woman had ever been elected to the U.S. Senate in her own right, no woman had ever been elected governor of a large state, and the number of Democratic women in the U.S. House had declined to 12 -- less than three percent of the chamber's 435 members. Since then, our grassroots network has helped elect 67 Democratic pro-choice members of Congress, 13 senators, and eight governors. EMILY's List has also become the largest financial resource for minority women seeking federal office. We know how to win.
EMILY's List is needed more than ever before. The Bush Republicans have launched a sustained assault on the right to choose and advances for women. They have run our economy for the benefit of the few, at the expense of us all. And on the world stage, they have created more enemies than friends for the United States, threatening our security.

What We Do
Helping Women Run — And Win
EMILY’s List identifies viable opportunities to elect pro-choice Democratic
women to office, recruits qualified candidates, trains them to be effective
fundraisers and communicators, and works with them throughout the campaign
to make sure that they are executing a winning strategy.
