You are a liar - President Bush said he was going to change the tone in Washington
Liberals have criticized President Bush, because they say that he said he was going to change the tone in Washington and it hasn't changed. Liberals claim that the division and dialogue between the two parties is worse than ever. I guess the question that needs to be asked is- do liberals accept any of the blame for the tone in Washington? Recently Barbara Boxer referred to Condoleezza Rice as a liar during her Senate confirmation hearing to become Secretary of State. This was only the most recent occurrence of a very long list of outrageous attacks on President Bush. Below are some of the comments liberals have made during President Bush's first term.

"He betrayed this country! He played on our fears! He took America on an ill-conceived foreign adventure dangerous to our troops, an adventure pre-ordained and planned before 9/11 ever took place!" - Al Gore

"There was no imminent threat. This was made up in Texas, announced in January to the Republican leadership that war was going to take place and was going to be good politically. This whole thing was a fraud," - Edward Kennedy

" These guys [Republicans] are the most crooked, you know, lying group I've ever seen. It's scary." - John Kerry

"The most interesting theory that I've heard so far – which is nothing more than a theory, it can't be proved – is that he [Bush] was warned ahead of time by the Saudis," - Howard Dean

"I'm saddened, saddened that this president failed so miserably at diplomacy that we're now forced to war, saddened that we have to give up one life because this president couldn't create the kind of diplomatic effort that was so critical for our country." Tom Daschle

"In two short years, George W. Bush has taught us what the 'W' stands for -- wrong. Wrong for our children, wrong for our parents, wrong for our values. Wrong, wrong, wrong for America." - John Edwards

"[Bush] used his father's contacts to get a spot in the Texas Guard. He then wanted to go work on an Alabama Senate race. He went to Alabama for one year. He didn't show up. Call it whatever you want, AWOL - it doesn't matter." Terry McAuliffe

"he[Bush] sounds more like a gang leader in South-Central L.A. than one that is trying to institute a policy of democracy and reconstruction in the world." - Al Sharpton

This is just a small sample of comments from liberals that have been directed toward President Bush. Notice the mean spirited nature of the comments. I guess what liberals mean is that they are allowed to say anything they want and then can accuse the President of not changing the tone in Washington. This is the same as a thief saying their too much crime or liar saying that no one tells the truth anymore. Please note that these are the leaders of the Democratic Party. They name call, slander and do everything except debate the facts or issues. And this does not take into account the statements made by the liberal Hollywood elite or organizations such as Moveon.org.

After referring to Condoleezza Rica a liar- Barbara Boxer then claimed that she was the victim, because she was then attacked by Secretary Rice. Once again just more lies and spin from the left. Republicans are in power and they are working to pass their agenda. Instead of liberals debating the issues- they are the ones creating the negative tone as evidenced above. The reason for this tone is simple- liberals do not have an agenda that is popular with mainstream America. The only thing they can do is attack the President and then say that the President has not changed the tone in Washington. What a great strategy for leading the country! No wonder Democrats are losing power. The truth is- President Bush has changed the tone in Washington -because the Democratic Party has become weaker during the course of his administration.
