Recently - I was volunteering my time cooking in the kitchen at my church
for a large breakfast banquet. I
was involved in many things at the time and I accidentally overcooked
some bacon that was on a large cooking sheet. I separated out the darkened
crisp bacon that I could not serve and set it on a paper towel. Please
note that bacon is one of my favorite things to eat ... However - I try
to avoid it - because I know that it's not good for me and it will lead
to my premature death. As I continued to cook in the kitchen - I could not help but look at that bacon that I set aside. It looked so good and smelled so delicious. It overwhelmed my senses. I continued to work focusing on my tasks - but I was getting hungry and it was tempting me. I knew the bacon was not good for me- but my mouth was salivating. I was hungry and I knew how good it would taste. I thought to myself - "I would have only one slice and that would be all". I fought the temptation for about 15 minutes - but eventually I gave in to the sight, delicious aroma and my hunger. I picked up a slice and took a small bite and before I knew it - the slice was gone. It tasted so good that within 5 minutes I ate all 6 slices that I had separated out on the paper towel. However- within the same amount of time as I ate the bacon - my guilt caught up with me. I regretted what I had done- because I was on a diet and it was not good for me... Morality in today's society has so deteriorated that the temptation for sin is everywhere in front of us... including the eyes of our children. Think of what you see in society today and what has become the norm? What does liberalism endorse? It endorses provocative television shows and movies, legalizing drugs, pornography, bashing a Miss America contestant for not endorsing gay marriage, the Hollywood lifestyle, an anything goes mentality and no God in society. Now what are the seven deadly sins? They are envy, gluttony, lust, greed, sloth... Do you think you would be more tempted by sin if you were spending your day studying for a physics exam or if you were laying out at a pool surrounded by girls in tiny bikinis? And if you want to know what the true cause of poverty in America is - well it is not discrimination - it is immorality. If you drop out of school, teen pregnancy, alcohol addiction, drug addiction, robbery, murder- do these things and you will end up in poverty. Now I am not saying that America should turn into a society of no fun- we are a free country. However - we have to be responsible and adult oriented subject matter should not be done in the open or on the public airwaves. Traditional values - not liberal values should be exalted. Sin is like a single slice of bacon that you don't want to eat. When you take a bite- it will taste good and you will want more- but when it's all done - you will be set back and left with one large regret....
