Why President Bush will go down in history as a great
President and Bill Clinton will not Does anyone know the poll numbers of John Kennedy? Does anyone know who FDR nominated to the Supreme Court? Does anyone know the scandals that plagued FDR? Does anyone know what the critics said about Lincoln? Most people remember two or three defining moments about a presidency. In fact- most people today- don't even know much about the current state of politics. Take a poll and you will find that most people will not know the Senate Majority Leader, the Speaker of the House, the members of the Supreme Court or their own representatives. Taking all of this into account- what do you think will be remembered about President George W. Bush 100 to 400 years from now? President Bush will be remembered for his leadership after the attacks on 9/11. Remember when he was down in the rubble of the Twin Towers and he shouted- "I can hear you, the rest of the world can hear you and the people who knocked these buildings down will hear all of us soon." He will be remember for that picture with his arm around the fire chief. He will be remember for his war on terror and his terror doctrine. He will be remembered for two wars that liberated 50 million people- who were able to vote within two years - at a cost of 4,000 lives . Please note that President Lincoln freed four million slaves at a cost of close to 500,000 lives. And the people who were liberated from slavery still could not vote for almost 100 years. At that time of Lincoln- it took days for news to travel across the United States. Today- news travels around the world in an instant. At the time of Lincoln- it took days and weeks to travel between different countries. Today- it is done within hours. One hundred years from now- the world will only become smaller. As a result- President Bush's legacy will be remembered across the world- because it is a smaller world. So to all these people like Barbra Streisand that call President Bush a terrible president.- please note that his legacy will not be Karl Rove, Harriett Miers, WMD's or the personal attacks on him. Does anyone really think that 100 years from now that anyone is going to remember the day to day details of his presidency? How many people today know about the Gulf of Tonken? Now let me ask - what will be the legacy of Bill Clinton? What were his major accomplishments? A strong economy? How many presidents are considered great - because of the economy during their presidency? I would say none. However- some are forgotten- because of a poor economy during their presidency. President Herbert Hoover is forgotten - because of the Great Depression and more recently Jimmy Carter will be forgotten. I would say that Clinton is going to remembered most for his affair with Monica Lewinsky while in office and his impeachment. What other defining moments did Clinton have beside all his scandals such as Vince Foster, Whitewater Paula Jones, Kathleen Willey, Jaunita Broaddrick, travelgate pardongate....... Two hundred years from now Bill Clinton will be remembered as a great politician that had an affair with an intern and was impeached and George W. Bush will be remembered as a president that freed 50 million people from tyranny and tried to spread freedom throughout the world. Written by
